Our Why
& Our Mission
London Longboard Girls is a London-based group run by women and for women, and our aim is to create a safe and welcoming environment to encourage more female skaters to try longboarding.
We run monthly meetups in London, which offer plenty of opportunities to work on your skating skills and socialise with like-minded skaters. Our sessions are open to all women, including anyone who identifies as female, over the age of 18. We also welcome other diverse genders, including non-binary, who would feel more comfortable at our sessions.
London Longboard Girls is on a mission to empower women and create community through longboarding.
Our Why
Typically, skateparks and skate communities have been, and still are, male-dominated spaces where women might be subject to hostile behaviour or unequal treatment. This could make them less at east to progress in their sport, and make them think that “skating is not for them.”
Empower ⋆ Build Confidence ⋆ Build Friendships
Although this is now beginning to change, we feel there is a need for a space that is made by and for female skaters. The aim of our sessions is to empower women to learn how to skate, help them build their confidence in a welcoming environment, and build female friendships within the community.
